A Simplified Study of Scheduler for Real Time and Embedded System Domain

چکیده
In this research paper, a new algorithm, Parametric Multi Level Feedback Queue (PMLFQ), has been presented for solving the problems and minimizing the response time. In this algorithm, a parametric approach has been utilized for defining the optimized quantum of each queue and number of queues. One of the most efficient algorithms for real time scheduling is Multi-Layer Queue (MLQ), algorithm that is based on use of several queues. The most serious problem of this method is the not being able to define the optimized number of queues and quantum of each queue for processing. Number of the queues and quantum of each queue affect the response time directly. The simulations show that the PMLFQ algorithm, regarding response time and waiting time, act better by 10%, than all the other algorithms. A Reservation Scheduler for Real-Time Operating Systems
The increasing demand for embedded multimedia applications makes evident the need for end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning. Particularly, operating systems, despite their location at end systems, switches or routers, must guarantee that resources under their control are adequately managed to fulfill the application requirements. This work proposes the implementation of QoS provision...
متن کاملDynamic Hw Priority Queue Based Schedulers for Embedded System
A real-time operating system (RTOs) is often used in embedded system, to structure the application code and to ensure that the deadlines are met by reacting on events by executing the functions within precise time. Most embedded systems are bound to real-time constraints with determinism and latency as a critical metrics. RTOs are generally implemented in software, increases computational overh...
متن کاملLimitations and Solutions for Real-Time Local Inter-Domain Communication in Xen
As computer hardware becomes increasingly powerful, there is an ongoing trend towards integrating complex, legacy real-time systems using fewer hosts through virtualization. Especially in embedded systems domains such as avionics and automotive engineering, this kind of system integration can greatly reduce system weight, cost, and power requirements. When systems are integrated in this manner,...
متن کاملThe Performance and Energy Consumption of Embedded Real-Time Operating Systems
This paper presents the modeling of embedded systems with SimBed, an execution-driven simulation testbed that measures the execution behavior and power consumption of embedded applications and RTOSs by executing them on an accurate architectural model of a microcontroller with simulated real-time stimuli. We briefly describe the simulation environment and present a study that compares three RTO...
متن کاملCopilot: A Hard Real-Time Runtime Monitor
We address the problem of runtime monitoring for hard realtime programs—a domain in which correctness is critical yet has largely been overlooked in the runtime monitoring community. We describe the challenges to runtime monitoring for this domain as well as an approach to satisfy the challenges. The core of our approach is a language and compiler called Copilot. Copilot is a stream-based dataf...
